Abstract

In this paper, we discuss aspects of model risk management in financial institutions which could be adopted by academic institutions to improve the process of conducting academic research, identify and mitigate existing limitations, decrease the possibility of erroneous results, and prevent fraudulent activities.

Complexity vs Empirical Score

  • Math Complexity: 1.5/10
  • Empirical Rigor: 2.0/10
  • Quadrant: Philosophers — conceptual discussion, limited math and data

Why this score: This paper presents a conceptual framework translating model risk management (MRM) practices from financial institutions to academic research to reduce fraud and errors. It contains virtually no mathematical derivations or empirical backtesting, relying instead on descriptive analogies and governance structures.
