Simulation is used in three ways in the archive: Monte Carlo as a numerical method for pricing and risk, agent-based models that grow market dynamics from interacting traders, and synthetic-data generators (statistical or neural) that produce realistic paths and order books for training and testing strategies. The market-simulation hub collects the second and third; this method label also catches the first.
What to check when reading. A simulation proves nothing about markets unless it is validated against them. Look for a stylized-facts check (fat tails, volatility clustering, volume-volatility correlation, the square-root impact law) with quantified distance to real data, not just plots; for Monte Carlo pricing, look for variance-reduction, convergence, and a reported standard error; for strategy tests on synthetic data, look for an explicit argument about what the generator could not have learned from the test period.
