This is the mathematical core of derivatives pricing and dynamic optimization: diffusions and jump processes for prices, stochastic volatility (Heston, SABR, rough Bergomi) for option surfaces, backward SDEs and PDEs for valuation under frictions, and HJB equations for consumption, liquidation, and hedging problems. Papers here score high on math complexity almost by construction; the question is what they do on the empirical axis.
What to check when reading. Many papers in this family are theoretical by design and should be read as such: the contribution is a closed form, an existence result, or a numerical scheme. When a paper does claim market relevance, look for calibration to real option surfaces or realized paths with reported fit errors, out-of-sample pricing or hedging error rather than in-sample calibration, and an honest statement of what the model cannot reproduce (the ATM skew term structure is the usual casualty).
In the context of stochastic portfolio theory we introduce a novel class of portfolios which we call linear path-functional portfolios. These are portfolios which are determined by certain transformations of linear functions of a collections of feature maps that are non-anticipative path functionals
We assess the applicability of rough volatility models to Bitcoin realized volatility using the normalised p-variation framework of Cont and Das (2024). Financial time series often exhibit skewness and heavy tails, making it essential to use models that incorporate these characteristics to ensure greater reliability in the results. Furthermore, allowing temporal variation in the skewness parameter can bring significant gains in the analysis of this
We present a new model for commodity pricing that enhances accuracy by integrating four distinct risk factors: spot price, stochastic volatility, convenience yield, and stochastic interest rates. While the influence of these four variables on commodity futures prices is well recognized, their combin
Classical portfolio models tend to degrade under structural breaks, whereas flexible machine-learning allocators often lack arbitrage consistency and interpretability. We formulate option market making as a constrained, risk-sensitive control problem that unifies execution, hedging, and arbitrage-free implied-volatility surfaces inside a single learning loop. A fully differentiable eSSVI layer enforces static no-arbitrage conditions (butterfly and calendar) while
The COS method is a very efficient way to compute European option prices under Lévy models or affine stochastic volatility models, based on a Fourier Cosine expansion of the density, involving the characteristic function. This note shows how to compute the COS method formula with a non-uniform fast

Option pricing in real markets faces fundamental challenges. The Black–Scholes–Merton (BSM) model assumes constant volatility and uses a linear generator $g(t,x,y,z)=-ry$, while lacking explicit behavioral factors, resulting in systematic departures from observed dynamics. This paper extends the B
