This is the mathematical core of derivatives pricing and dynamic optimization: diffusions and jump processes for prices, stochastic volatility (Heston, SABR, rough Bergomi) for option surfaces, backward SDEs and PDEs for valuation under frictions, and HJB equations for consumption, liquidation, and hedging problems. Papers here score high on math complexity almost by construction; the question is what they do on the empirical axis.
What to check when reading. Many papers in this family are theoretical by design and should be read as such: the contribution is a closed form, an existence result, or a numerical scheme. When a paper does claim market relevance, look for calibration to real option surfaces or realized paths with reported fit errors, out-of-sample pricing or hedging error rather than in-sample calibration, and an honest statement of what the model cannot reproduce (the ATM skew term structure is the usual casualty).
We consider the problem of optimizing lifetime consumption under a habit formation model, both with and without an exogenous pension. Unlike much of the existing literature, we apply a power utility to the ratio of consumption to habit, rather than to their difference. The martingale/duality method
We develop a non-parametric, semimartingale optimal transport, calibration methodology for local volatility models with stochastic interest rate. The method finds a fully calibrated model which is the closest, in a way that can be defined by a general cost function, to a given reference model. We es
Copulas are widely used in financial economics as well as in other areas of applied mathematics. Yet, there is much arbitrariness in their choice. The author proposes “a natural copula” concept, which minimizes Wasserstein distance between distributions in some space, in which both these distributio
We present a general framework for modelling the dynamics of limit order books, built on the combination of two modelling ingredients: the order flow, modelled as a general spatial point process, and market clearing, modelled via a deterministic mass transport operator acting on distributions of buy
In this work, a pricing model for a defaultable corporate bond with credit rating migration risk is established. The model turns out to be a free boundary problem with two free boundaries. The latter are the level sets of the solution but of different kinds. One is from the discontinuous second orde
We develop a financial market model in which a large population of firms chooses dynamic emission strategies under climate transition risk, interacting with both environmentally concerned and neutral investors. Firms face a trade-off between financial returns and environmental performance, while the
In this paper we study optimal trading strategies in a financial market in which stock returns depend on a hidden Gaussian mean reverting drift process. Investors obtain information on that drift by observing stock returns. Moreover, expert opinions in the form of signals about the current state of
Financial institutions and insurance companies that analyze the evolution and sources of profits and losses often look at risk factors only at discrete reporting dates, ignoring the detailed paths. Continuous-time decompositions avoid this weakness and also make decompositions consistent across diff
We propose a tractable dynamic framework for the joint determination of optimal consumption, portfolio choice, and healthcare irreversible investment. Our model is based on a Merton’s portfolio and consumption problem, where, in addition, the agent can choose the time at which undertaking a costly l
We derive the explicit price of the perpetual American put option cancelled at the last passage time of the underlying above some fixed level. We assume the asset process is governed by a geometric spectrally negative Lévy process. We show that the optimal exercise time is the first epoch when asset
We develop a continuous-time general equilibrium framework for economies with a heterogeneous population – modeled as a continuum – that repeatedly optimizes over short horizons under relative-income (Duesenberry-type) criteria. The cross-section evolves through a Brownian flow on a type space, tr
We establish a microstructural foundation of the rough Bergomi model. Specifically, we consider a sequence of order driven financial market models where orders to buy or sell an asset arrive according to a Poisson process and have a long lasting impact on volatility. Using a recently established C-t
This paper studies the mean field game (MFG) problem arising from a large population competition in fund management, featuring a new type of relative performance via the benchmark tracking constraint. In the n-agent model, each agent can strategically inject capital to ensure that the total wealth o
This paper introduces a new algorithmic execution model that integrates interbank limit and market orders with internal liquidity generated through market making. Based on the Cartea et al.\cite{“cartea2015algorithmic”} framework, we incorporate market impact in interbank orders while excluding it f
We consider a class of $N$-player games and mean-field games of singular controls with ergodic performance criterion, providing a benchmark case for irreversible investment games featuring mean-field interaction and strategic complementarities. The state of each player follows a geometric Brownian m
We present a simple unifying treatment of a broad class of applications from statistical mechanics, econometrics, mathematical finance, and insurance mathematics, where (possibly subordinated) Lévy noise arises as a scaling limit of some form of continuous-time random walk (CTRW). For each applicati
This paper studies relative arbitrage opportunities in a market with competitive investors through stochastic differential games in the limit as the number of players tends to infinity. With common noises introduced by the stock capitalization processes, we establish a conditional McKean-Vlasov syst
We apply rough-path theory to study the discrete-time gamma-hedging strategy. We show that if a trader knows that the market price of a set of European options will be given by a diffusive pricing model, then the discrete-time gamma-hedging strategy will enable them to replicate other European optio
We consider the multiple quantile hedging problem, which is a class of partial hedging problems containing as special examples the quantile hedging problem (F{“ö”}llmer & Leukert 1999) and the PnL matching problem (introduced in Bouchard & Vu 2012). In complete non-linear markets, we show that the p
We derive several sets of sufficient conditions for applicability of the new efficient numerical realization of the inverse $Z$-transform. For large $n$, the complexity of the new scheme is dozens of times smaller than the complexity of the trapezoid rule. As applications, pricing of European option
We explicitly construct the supermartingale version of the Fr{é}chet-Hoeffding coupling in the setting with infinitely many marginal constraints. This extends the results of Henry-Labordere et al. obtained in the martingale setting. Our construction is based on the Markovian iteration of one-period
This paper extends our previous work to continuous-time optimal stopping, focusing on American options in an exploratory setting. Our first contribution is an entropy-regularized penalization scheme, inspired by classical penalization techniques for reflected BSDEs. It yields a smooth approximation
We first review the convolution fast-Fourier-transform (CFFT) approach for the numerical solution of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) introduced in (Hyndman and Oyono Ngou, 2017). We then propose a method for improving the boundary errors obtained when valuing options using this ap
Market participants regularly send bid and ask quotes to exchange-operated limit order books. This creates an optimization challenge where their potential profit is determined by their quoted price and how often their orders are successfully executed. The expected profit from successful execution at
This study explores the design of an efficient rebate policy in auction markets, focusing on a continuous-time setting with competition among market participants. In this model, a stock exchange collects transaction fees from auction investors executing block trades to buy or sell a risky asset, the
This paper investigates robust stochastic differential games among insurers under model uncertainty and stochastic volatility. The surplus processes of ambiguity-averse insurers (AAIs) are characterized by drifted Brownian motion with both common and idiosyncratic insurance risks. To mitigate these
We are considering the problem of optimal portfolio delegation between an investor and a portfolio manager under a random default time. We focus on a novel variation of the Principal-Agent problem adapted to this framework. We address the challenge of an uncertain investment horizon caused by an exo
We investigate model risk distributionally robust sensitivities for functionals on the Wasserstein space when the underlying model is constrained to the martingale class and/or is subject to constraints on the first marginal law. Our results extend the findings of Bartl, Drapeau, Obloj & Wiesel \ci
In this paper, we investigate a complex variation of the standard joint life annuity policy by introducing three distinct contingent benefits for the surviving member(s) of a couple, along with a contingent benefit for their beneficiaries if both members pass away. Our objective is to price this inn
The geometric Brownian motion (GBM) is widely employed for modeling stochastic processes, yet its solutions are characterized by the log-normal distribution. This comprises predictive capabilities of GBM mainly in terms of forecasting applications. Here, entropy corrections to GBM are proposed to go
In this paper, we address linear-quadratic-Gaussian (LQG) risk-sensitive mean field games (MFGs) with common noise. In this framework agents are exposed to a common noise and aim to minimize an exponential cost functional that reflects their risk sensitivity. We leverage the convex analysis method t
The main objective of this paper is to develop a martingale-type solution to optimal consumption–investment choice problems ([Merton, 1969] and [Merton, 1971]) under time-varying incomplete preferences driven by externalities such as patience, socialization effects, and market volatility. The marke
We study and solve the worst-case optimal portfolio problem as pioneered by Korn and Wilmott (2002) of an investor with logarithmic preferences facing the possibility of a market crash with stochastic market coefficients by enhancing the martingale approach developed by Seifried in 2010. With the he
We formulate and solve stochastic control problems that model the core yield-generating strategy of the Ethena protocol, a decentralized finance (DeFi) stablecoin that earns yield by combining a long position in staked Ethereum (stETH) with an equal-sized short position in ETH perpetual futures. The
We prove a functional limit theorem for a pair of nearly unstable Hawkes processes coupled through a triangular cross-excitation mechanism, when the two kernels have distinct heavy-tail exponents. This heterogeneous regime produces two different degrees of roughness and, to the best of our knowledge
We study OTC bond market making on a size ladder with quadratic inventory penalty and a running target on the dealer’s size-weighted hit ratio within a stochastic optimal control approach. We demonstrate that the corresponding reduced Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation remains separable by duali
Classical asset pricing relies on the risk-neutral measure $Q$ for valuation, yet its economic interpretation is typically anchored in a physical measure $P$. This creates an inherent asymmetry: pricing is governed by $Q$, while meaning resides in $P$, making it difficult to provide a unified accoun
Frøseth (2026; arXiv:2603.05264) shows that a proportional wealth tax on market values is neutral with respect to portfolio choice, Sharpe ratios, and equilibrium prices under CRRA preferences and geometric Brownian motion. This paper investigates the robustness of that result along two dimensions.
We generalize the seminal framework of Kyle (1985) to a many-asset setting, bridging the gap between informed-trading theory and modern trading practices. Specifically, we formulate an infinite-dimensional Bayesian trading game in which the informed trader’s private information may concern arbitrary
An agent holds a position in a perpetual contract with payoff function $ψ$ and attempts to liquidate the position while managing transaction costs, inventory risk, and funding rate payments. By solving the agent’s stochastic control problem we obtain a closed-form expression for the optimal trading
In this paper we study the Fourier estimator of Malliavin and Mancino for the spot volatility. We establish the convergence of the trigonometric polynomial to the volatility’s path in a setting that includes the following aspects. First, the volatility is required to satisfy a mild integrability con
We argue that negative skew and positive mean of the distribution of stock returns are largely due to the broken symmetry of stochastic volatility governing gains and losses. Starting with stochastic differential equations for stock returns and for stochastic volatility we argue that the distributio
The Heston stochastic volatility model is arguably, the most popular stochastic volatility model used to price and risk manage exotic derivatives. In spite of this, it is not necessarily easy to calibrate to the market and obtain stable exotic option prices with this model. This paper focuses on the
We develop a tractable framework for valuing Asian options when trading the underlying generates market impact and execution costs. Starting from a discrete-time, quote-level model, we construct a reference midpoint suitable for Asian payoffs and separate market impact into a transient component and
Volatility clustering is one of the most robust stylized facts of financial markets, yet it is typically detected using moment-based diagnostics or parametric models such as GARCH. This paper shows that clustered volatility also leaves a clear imprint on the time-reversal symmetry of horizontal visi
The main purpose of this article is to give a general overview and understanding of the first widely used option-pricing model, the Black-Scholes model. The history and context are presented, with the usefulness and implications in the economics world. A brief review of fundamental calculus concepts
This paper develops a novel framework for modeling the variance swap of multi-asset portfolios by employing the generalized variance approach, which utilizes the determinant of the covariance matrix of the underlying assets. By specifying the distribution of the log returns of the underlying assets
Traditional mean-field game (MFG) solvers operate on an instance-by-instance basis, which becomes infeasible when many related problems must be solved (e.g., for seeking a robust description of the solution under perturbations of the dynamics or utilities, or in settings involving continuum-paramete
In this article, we study optimal investment and consumption in an incomplete stochastic factor model for a power utility investor on the infinite horizon. When the state space of the stochastic factor is finite, we give a complete characterisation of the well-posedness of the problem, and provide a
In this paper, we first conduct a study of the portfolio selection problem, incorporating both exogenous (proportional) and endogenous (resulting from liquidity risk, characterized by a stochastic process) transaction costs through the utility-based approach. We also consider the intrinsic relations
A multi-factor extension of the Hobson and Rogers (HR) model, incorporating a quadratic variance function (QHR model), is proposed and analysed. The QHR model allows for greater flexibility in defining the moving average filter while maintaining the Markovian property of the original HR model. The u
This paper is concerned with the maximum principle and dynamic programming principle for mean-variance portfolio selection of jump diffusions and their relationship. First, the optimal portfolio and efficient frontier of the problem are obtained using both methods. Furthermore, the relationship betw
This paper explores a comprehensive class of time-changed stochastic processes constructed by subordinating Brownian motion with Levy processes, where the subordination is further governed by stochastic arrival mechanisms such as the Cox Ingersoll Ross (CIR) and Chan Karolyi Longstaff Sanders (CKLS)
Community bail funds (CBFs) assist individuals who have been arrested and cannot afford bail, preventing unnecessary pretrial incarceration along with its harmful or sometimes fatal consequences. By posting bail, CBFs allow defendants to stay at home and maintain their livelihoods until trial. This
This paper investigates the optimal hedging strategies of an informed broker interacting with multiple traders in a financial market. We develop a theoretical framework in which the broker, possessing exclusive information about the drift of the asset’s price, engages with traders whose trading acti
A critical factor in adopting machine learning for time-sensitive financial tasks is computational speed, including model training and inference. This paper demonstrates that a broad class of such problems, especially those previously addressed using deep neural networks, can be efficiently solved u
This note gives a bound on the error of the leading term of the $t\to 0$ asymptotic expansion of the Hartman-Watson distribution $θ(r,t)$ in the regime $rt=ρ$ constant. The leading order term has the form $θ(ρ/t,t)=\frac{“1”}{“2πt”}e^{"-\frac{1"}{“t”} (F(ρ)-π^2/2)} G(ρ) (1 + \vartheta(t,ρ))$, where
We formulate and solve an optimal trading problem with alpha signals, where transactions induce a nonlinear transient price impact described by a general propagator model, including power-law decay. Using a variational approach, we demonstrate that the optimal trading strategy satisfies a nonlinear
The G-expectation is a sublinear expectation. It is an important tool for pricing financial products and managing risk thanks to its ability to deal with model uncertainty. The problem is how to efficiently quantify it since the commonly used Monte Carlo method does not work. Fortunately, the expect
Signature methods have been widely and effectively used as a tool for feature extraction in statistical learning methods, notably in mathematical finance. They lack, however, interpretability: in the general case, it is unclear why signatures actually work. The present article aims to address this i
Pricing composite and quanto contracts requires a joint model of both the underlying asset and the exchange rate. In this contribution, we explore the potential of local-correlation models to address the challenges of calibrating synthetic quanto forward contracts and composite options quoted in the
We conduct a preliminary analysis of a pairs trading strategy using the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (OU) process to model stock price spreads. We compare this approach to a naive pairs trading strategy that uses a rolling window to calculate mean and standard deviation parameters. Our findings suggest that t
Deep learning methods have become a widespread toolbox for pricing and calibration of financial models. While they often provide new directions and research results, their `black box’ nature also results in a lack of interpretability. We provide a detailed interpretability analysis of these methods
We suggest employing log-ergodic processes to simulate the velocity of money in an ergodic manner. Our approach sheds light on economic behavior, policy implications, and financial dynamics by maintaining long-term stability. By bridging theory and practice, the partially ergodic model helps analyst
Dynamic Stackelberg games are a broad class of two-player games in which the leader acts first, and the follower chooses a response strategy to the leader’s strategy. Unfortunately, only stylized Stackelberg games are explicitly solvable since the follower’s best-response operator (as a function of
This paper studies an optimal consumption problem with both relaxed benchmark tracking and consumption drawdown constraint, leading to a stochastic control problem with dynamic state-control constraints. In our relaxed tracking formulation, it is assumed that the fund manager can strategically injec
In this article, we employ physics-informed residual learning (PIRL) and propose a pricing method for European options under a regime-switching framework, where closed-form solutions are not available. We demonstrate that the proposed approach serves an efficient alternative to competing pricing tec
This paper considers an insurance company that faces two key constraints: a ratcheting dividend constraint and an irreversible reinsurance constraint. The company allocates part of its reserve to pay dividends to its shareholders while strategically purchasing reinsurance for its claims. The ratchet
This paper presents a new model for options pricing. The Black-Scholes-Merton (BSM) model plays an important role in financial options pricing. However, the BSM model assumes that the risk-free interest rate, volatility, and equity premium are constant, which is unrealistic in the real market. To ad
We consider the jump-diffusion risky asset model and study its conditional prediction laws. Next, we explain the conditional least square hedging strategy and calculate its closed form for the jump-diffusion model, considering the Black-Scholes framework with interpretations related to investor prio
We propose an efficient, accurate and reliable simulation scheme for the stochastic-alpha-beta-rho (SABR) model. The two challenges of the SABR simulation lie in sampling (i) integrated variance conditional on terminal volatility and (ii) terminal forward price conditional on terminal volatility and
We study liquidity provision in the presence of exogenous competition. We consider a reference market maker' who monitors her inventory and the aggregated inventory of the competing market makers. We assume that the competing market makers use a rule of thumb’ to determine their posted depths, dep
We study the impact of regulatory capital constraints on fire sales and financial stability in a large banking system using a mean field game model. In our model banks adjust their holdings of a risky asset via trading strategies with finite trading rate in order to maximize expected profits. Moreov
This paper concerns a continuous time mean-variance (MV) portfolio selection problem in a jump-diffusion financial model with no-shorting trading constraint. The problem is reduced to two subproblems: solving a stochastic linear-quadratic (LQ) control problem under control constraint, and finding a
We present a unified, market-complete model that integrates both the Bachelier and Black-Scholes-Merton frameworks for asset pricing. The model allows for the study, within a unified framework, of asset pricing in a natural world that experiences the possibility of negative security prices or riskle
We suggest new closely related methods for numerical inversion of $Z$-transform and Wiener-Hopf factorization of functions on the unit circle, based on sinh-deformations of the contours of integration, corresponding changes of variables and the simplified trapezoid rule. As applications, we consider
This paper studies a risk-sensitive decision-making problem under uncertainty. It considers a decision-making process that unfolds over a fixed number of stages, in which a decision-maker chooses among multiple alternatives, some of which are deterministic and others are stochastic. The decision-mak
Modeling financial data often relies on assumptions that may prove insufficient or unrealistic in practice. The Geometric Brownian Motion (GBM) model is frequently employed to represent stock price processes. This study investigates whether the behavior of weekly and monthly returns of selected equi
In this note we consider the maximization of the expected terminal wealth for the setup of quadratic transaction costs. First, we provide a very simple probabilistic solution to the problem. Although the problem was largely studied, as far as we know up to date this simple and probabilistic form of
This study proposes a new exact simulation scheme of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck driven stochastic volatility model. With the Karhunen-Loève expansions, the stochastic volatility path following the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process is expressed as a sine series, and the time integrals of volatility and variance
The Merton investment-consumption problem is fundamental, both in the field of finance, and in stochastic control. An important extension of the problem adds transaction costs, which is highly relevant from a financial perspective but also challenging from a control perspective because the solution
We introduce a perturbative formalism to solve the backward-looking futures pricing problem. The formalism is based on a time-ordered exponential series which allows to derive the functional form of the integral kernel associated to the backward-Kolmogorov diffusion PDE. We present an analytic prici
We establish the weak convergence of the intensity of a nearly-unstable Hawkes process with heavy-tailed kernel. Our result is used to derive a scaling limit for a financial market model where orders to buy or sell an asset arrive according to a Hawkes process with power-law kernel. After suitable r
We present a standard form of master equations (ME) for general one-dimensional non-Markovian (history-dependent) jump processes, complemented by an asymptotic solution derived from an expanded system-size approach. The ME is obtained by developing a general Markovian embedding using a suitable set
We introduce a financial market model featuring a risky asset whose price follows a sticky geometric Brownian motion and a riskless asset that grows with a constant interest rate $r\in \mathbb R $. We prove that this model satisfies No Arbitrage (NA) and No Free Lunch with Vanishing Risk (NFLVR) onl
This paper addresses the portfolio selection problem for nonlinear law-dependent preferences in continuous time, which inherently exhibit time inconsistency. Employing the method of stochastic maximum principle, we establish verification theorems for equilibrium strategies, accommodating both random
We derive quantitative error bounds for deep neural networks (DNNs) approximating option prices on a $d$-dimensional risky asset as functions of the underlying model parameters, payoff parameters and initial conditions. We cover a general class of stochastic volatility models of Markovian nature as
The focus of this paper is on identifying the most effective selling strategy for pairs trading of stocks. In pairs trading, a long position is held in one stock while a short position is held in another. The goal is to determine the optimal time to sell the long position and repurchase the short po
Volume imbalance in a limit order book is often considered as a reliable indicator for predicting future price moves. In this work, we seek to analyse the nuances of the relationship between prices and volume imbalance. To this end, we study a market-making problem which allows us to view the imbala
We propose a macroscopic market making model à la Avellaneda-Stoikov, using continuous processes for orders instead of discrete point processes. The model intends to bridge the gap between market making and optimal execution problems, while shedding light on the influence of order flows on the optim
In the setting of stochastic Volterra equations, and in particular rough volatility models, we show that conditional expectations are the unique classical solutions to path-dependent PDEs. The latter arise from the functional Itô formula developed by [Viens, F., & Zhang, J. (2019). A martingale appr
In this paper, we study the exponential utility indifference pricing of pure endowment policies within a stochastic-factor model for an insurer who also invests in a financial market. Our framework incorporates a hazard rate modeled as an observable diffusion process, while the risky asset price fol
In this work, the Fourier-cosine series (COS) method has been combined with the Boundary Element Method (BEM) for a fast evaluation of barrier option prices. After a description of its use in the Black and Scholes (BS) model, the focus of the paper is on the application of the proposed methodology t
We study a dynamic stochastic control problem subject to Knightian uncertainty with multi-objective (vector-valued) criteria. Assuming the preferences across expected multi-loss vectors are represented by a given, yet general, preorder, we address the model uncertainty by adopting a robust or minima
In this paper we consider the Euler-Maruyama scheme for a class ofstochastic delay differential equations driven by a fractional Brownian motion with index $H\in(0,1)$. We establish the consistency of the scheme and study the rate of convergence of the normalized error process. This is done by check
We study the problem of optimal portfolio selection under stochastic volatility within a continuous time reinforcement learning framework with portfolio constraints. Exploration is modeled through entropy-regularized relaxed controls, where the investor selects probability distributions over admissi
We investigate the impossibility of universally winning trading strategies – those generating strict profit across all market trajectories – through three distinct mathematical paradigms. Fundamentally, under standard admissibility constraints, the existence of such a strategy is a strict subset o
This paper considers an insurer with two collaborating business lines that faces three critical decisions: (1) dividend payout, (2) reinsurance coverage, and (3) capital injection between the lines, in the presence of model uncertainty. The insurer considers the reference model to be an approximatio
In this paper, we study an intertemporal utility maximization problem in which an investor chooses consumption and portfolio strategies in the presence of a stochastic factor and a no-borrowing constraint. In the spirit of the Kim-Omberg model, the stochastic factor represents the expected excess re
This paper bridges reinforcement learning (RL) and risk-sensitive stochastic control by introducing a tractable exploration mechanism for policy search in risk-sensitive portfolio management, with known and unknown model parameters, that yields an endogenous relative-entropy regularization. We const
