Asset pricing asks the field’s central question — why do some assets earn higher returns than others — and factor investing is its practical export. This hub collects the cross-sectional literature: momentum, value, carry, quality, low-volatility, the factor-zoo debates, and machine-learning approaches to the cross-section of expected returns.
The elephant in this literature is replication decay. Documented anomalies shrink dramatically after publication, and a large fraction fail replication once you correct for data mining across hundreds of tested signals. That makes publication date and multiple-testing correction the two most informative fields in any factor paper: work that applies higher t-statistic thresholds, or tests on post-publication and international samples, deserves far more weight than a fresh anomaly with a 1990-2015 US backtest. The rigor ranking below tends to surface exactly those papers.

This paper provides robust, new evidence on the causal drivers of market troughs. We demonstrate that conclusions about these triggers are critically sensitive to model specification, moving beyond restrictive linear models with a flexible DML average partial effect causal machine learning framework
This paper presents a comprehensive machine learning framework for quantitative trading that achieves superior risk-adjusted returns through systematic factor engineering, real-time computation optimization, and cross-sectional portfolio construction. Our approach integrates multi-factor alpha disco
This study investigates the pretrained RNN attention models with the mainstream attention mechanisms such as additive attention, Luong’s three attentions, global self-attention (Self-att) and sliding window sparse attention (Sparse-att) for the empirical asset pricing research on top 420 large-cap U
This paper introduces DeepUnifiedMom, a deep learning framework that enhances portfolio management through a multi-task learning approach and a multi-gate mixture of experts. The essence of DeepUnifiedMom lies in its ability to create unified momentum portfolios that incorporate the dynamics of time
Machine learning is central to empirical asset pricing, but portfolio construction still relies on point predictions and largely ignores asset-specific estimation uncertainty. We propose a simple change: sort assets using uncertainty-adjusted prediction bounds instead of point predictions alone. Acr
We propose a new non-linear single-factor asset pricing model $r_{it}=h(f_{t}λ_{i})+ε_{it}$. Despite its parsimony, this model represents exactly any non-linear model with an arbitrary number of factors and loadings – a consequence of the Kolmogorov-Arnold representation theorem. It features only o
MASTER’s inter-stock multi-head attention – the module responsible for modeling cross-sectional stock relationships – accounts for 42.5% of model parameters and 25% of predictive value. We systematically decompose this module and uncover a surprising structure: the learned attention is near-unifor
We develop an econometric framework integrating heavy-tailed Student’s $t$ distributions with behavioral probability weighting while preserving infinite divisibility. Using 432{,}752 observations across 86 assets (2004–2024), we demonstrate Student’s $t$ specifications outperform Gaussian models in
Leveraging a unique dataset of carbon futures option prices traded on the ICE market from December 2015 until December 2020, we present the results from an unprecedented calibration exercise. Within a multifactor stochastic volatility framework with jumps, we employ a three-dimensional pricing kerne
We introduce Deep Inception Networks (DINs), a family of Deep Learning models that provide a general framework for end-to-end systematic trading strategies. DINs extract time series (TS) and cross sectional (CS) features directly from daily price returns. This removes the need for handcrafted featur
Financial scenario simulation is essential for risk management and portfolio optimization, yet it remains challenging especially in high-dimensional and small data settings common in finance. We propose a diffusion factor model that integrates latent factor structure into generative diffusion proces
This project investigates the valuation of American commodity options using the Schwartz two-factor model. We employ the double-sweep Alternating Direction Explicit (ADE) method, an unconditionally stable (for diffusion) finite difference scheme that provides the efficiency of explicit marching with
Forecasters often score the same units per date against one standardized realized outcome. We show that every standardized forecast splits exactly into a component aligned with this common target and a component uncorrelated with it. Three consequences follow: forecast-error correlation largely mirr
Statistical arbitrage exploits temporal price differences between similar assets. We develop a framework to jointly identify similar assets through factors, identify mispricing and form a trading policy that maximizes risk-adjusted performance after trading costs. Our Attention Factors are condition
We propose a novel conditional diffusion model for portfolio optimization that learns the cross-sectional distribution of next-day stock returns conditioned on asset-specific factors. The model builds on the Diffusion Transformer with token-wise conditioning, linking each asset’s return to its own f
This work focuses on a self-exciting point process defined by a Hawkes-like intensity and a switching mechanism based on a hidden Markov chain. Previous works in such a setting assume constant intensities between consecutive events. We extend the model to general Hawkes excitation kernels that are p
This paper explores the estimation and inference of the minimum spanning set (MSS), the smallest subset of risky assets that spans the mean-variance efficient frontier of the full asset set. We establish identification conditions for the MSS and develop a novel procedure for its estimation and infer
While asset-pricing models increasingly recognize that factor risk premia are subject to structural change, existing literature typically assumes that investors correctly account for such instability. This paper studies how investors instead learn under a misspecified model that underestimates struc
We study cubic cardinality-constrained portfolio optimization, a higher-order extension of the standard Markowitz formulation where three-way sector co-movement terms augment the quadratic risk-return objective. Classical heuristics like simulated annealing (SA) and tabu search require Rosenberg qua
We propose a new model specification test for multiple-equation systems with cross-equation error and dynamic regressor–error dependences. Conventional tests often rely on exogeneity conditions strong enough to ensure consistency of the OLS estimator. These exogeneity conditions are violated when r
