Asset pricing asks the field’s central question — why do some assets earn higher returns than others — and factor investing is its practical export. This hub collects the cross-sectional literature: momentum, value, carry, quality, low-volatility, the factor-zoo debates, and machine-learning approaches to the cross-section of expected returns.
The elephant in this literature is replication decay. Documented anomalies shrink dramatically after publication, and a large fraction fail replication once you correct for data mining across hundreds of tested signals. That makes publication date and multiple-testing correction the two most informative fields in any factor paper: work that applies higher t-statistic thresholds, or tests on post-publication and international samples, deserves far more weight than a fresh anomaly with a 1990-2015 US backtest. The rigor ranking below tends to surface exactly those papers.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated the ability to adopt a personality and behave in a human-like manner. There is a large body of research that investigates the behavioural impacts of personality in less obvious areas such as investment attitudes or creative decision making. In this stud
We develop an NLP-based procedure for detecting systematic nonmeritorious consumer complaints, simply called systematic anomalies, among complaint narratives. While classification algorithms are used to detect pronounced anomalies, in the case of smaller and frequent systematic anomalies, the algori
This paper presents an empirical analysis of the capital asset pricing model using trading data for the Chinese A-share market from 2000 to 2019. Firstly, the standard CAPM is tested using a Fama-MacBetch regression and although the results successfully test the three core hypotheses, the resulting
We study the aggregate hazard rate of a heterogeneous population whose individual event intensities are modeled as Cox (doubly stochastic) processes. In the deterministic hazard setting, the observed pool hazard is the survival weighted mean of the individual hazards, and its time derivative equals
Major bank mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transform the financial market structure, but their valuation and spillover effects remain open to question. This study examines the market reaction to two M&A events: the 2005 creation of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group following the Financial Big Bang in Ja
Given the increasing importance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, particularly carbon emissions, we investigate optimal proportional portfolio insurance (PPI) strategies accounting for carbon footprint reduction. PPI strategies enable investors to mitigate downside risk while re
There are inefficiencies in financial markets, with unexploited patterns in price, volume, and cross-sectional relationships. While many approaches use large-scale transformers, we take a domain-focused path: feed-forward and recurrent networks with curated features to capture subtle regularities in
The equity risk premium is the price of risk in equity markets, and it is not only a key input in estimating costs of equity and capital in both corporate
Despite the growing attention to time series forecasting in recent years, many studies have proposed various solutions to address the challenges encountered in time series prediction, aiming to improve forecasting performance. However, effectively applying these time series forecasting models to the
Following an analysis of existing AI-related exchange-traded funds (ETFs), we reveal the selection criteria for determining which stocks qualify as AI-related are often opaque and rely on vague phrases and subjective judgments. This paper proposes a new, objective, data-driven approach using natural
We show that the state spaces of multifactor Markovian processes, coming from approximations of nonnegative Volterra processes, are given by explicit linear transformation of the nonnegative orthant. We demonstrate the usefulness of this result for applications, including simulation schemes and PDE
This paper investigates cash productivity as a signal for future stock performance, building on the cash-return framework of Faulkender and Wang (2006). Using financial and market data from WRDS, we calculate cash returns as a proxy for operational efficiency and evaluate a long-only strategy applie
This thesis explores the historical progression and theoretical constructs of financial mathematics, with an in-depth exploration of Stochastic Calculus as showcased in the Binomial Asset Pricing Model and the Continuous-Time Models. A comprehensive survey of stochastic calculus principles applied t
This paper comprehensively reviews the application of machine learning (ML) and AI in finance, specifically in the context of asset pricing. It starts by summarizing the traditional asset pricing models and examining their limitations in capturing the complexities of financial markets. It explores h
Identification of market abuse is an extremely complicated activity that requires the analysis of large and complex datasets. We propose an unsupervised machine learning method for contextual anomaly detection, which allows to support market surveillance aimed at identifying potential insider tradin
This study presents an analytical approach to sector rotation, leveraging both factor models and fundamental metrics. We initiate with a systematic classification of sectors, followed by an empirical investigation into their returns. Through factor analysis, the paper underscores the significance of
We extend a Discrete Time Random Walk (DTRW) numerical scheme to simulate the anomalous diffusion of financial market orders in a simulated order book. Here using random walks with Sibuya waiting times to include a time-dependent stochastic forcing function with non-uniformly sampled times between o
This study explores the potential of internet search volume data, specifically Google Trends, as an indicator for cross-sectional stock returns. Unlike previous studies, our research specifically investigates the search volume of the topic ‘happiness’ and its impact on stock returns in the aspect of
We develop a continuous-time general equilibrium framework for economies with a heterogeneous population – modeled as a continuum – that repeatedly optimizes over short horizons under relative-income (Duesenberry-type) criteria. The cross-section evolves through a Brownian flow on a type space, tr
This paper tests whether intraday momentum signals derived from open-high-low-close-volume (OHLCV) data produce a statistically significant trading edge in Micro E-mini Nasdaq 100 futures (MNQ) under realistic execution constraints. Using 947 trading days of five-minute data (2021-2025), fourteen si
