Asset pricing asks the field’s central question — why do some assets earn higher returns than others — and factor investing is its practical export. This hub collects the cross-sectional literature: momentum, value, carry, quality, low-volatility, the factor-zoo debates, and machine-learning approaches to the cross-section of expected returns.
The elephant in this literature is replication decay. Documented anomalies shrink dramatically after publication, and a large fraction fail replication once you correct for data mining across hundreds of tested signals. That makes publication date and multiple-testing correction the two most informative fields in any factor paper: work that applies higher t-statistic thresholds, or tests on post-publication and international samples, deserves far more weight than a fresh anomaly with a 1990-2015 US backtest. The rigor ranking below tends to surface exactly those papers.

Factor model is a fundamental investment tool in quantitative investment, which can be empowered by deep learning to become more flexible and efficient in practical complicated investing situations. However, it is still an open question to build a factor model that can conduct stock prediction in an
Emphasizing the statistics of jumps crossing the strike and local time, we develop a decomposition of equity option risk premiums. Operationalizing this theoretical treatment, we equip the pricing kernel process with unspanned risks, embed (unspanned) jump risks, and allow equity return volatility t
We study how sentiment shocks propagate through equity returns and investor clientele using four independent proxies with sign-aligned kappa-rho parameters. A structural calibration links a one standard deviation innovation in sentiment to a pricing impact of 1.06 basis points with persistence param
We argue that spanning large numbers of degrees of freedom in empirical analysis allows better characterizations of effects and thus improves the trustworthiness of conclusions. Our ideas are illustrated in three studies: equity premium prediction, asset pricing anomalies and risk premia estimation.
We consider a conditional factor model for a multivariate portfolio of United States equities in the context of analysing a statistical arbitrage trading strategy. A state space framework underlies the factor model whereby asset returns are assumed to be a noisy observation of a linear combination o
We introduce Spatio-Temporal Momentum strategies, a class of models that unify both time-series and cross-sectional momentum strategies by trading assets based on their cross-sectional momentum features over time. While both time-series and cross-sectional momentum strategies are designed to systema
This paper describes a fast and stable algorithm for evaluating Bermudan swaption under the two factor Hull-White model. We discretize the calculation of the expected value in the evaluation of Bermudan swaption by numerical integration, and Gaussian kernel sums appears in it. The fast Gauss transfo
In a statistical factor model, principal components (or eigenvectors) of a sample covariance matrix serve as estimates of {\it principal directions}, the true drivers of co-movement of a collection of observed variables. We write the often substantial error in these estimates as a sum of two interpr
The paper employs sophisticated financial models (DCF, option pricing, risk decomposition) requiring advanced math, and its empirical component is data-heavy, featuring historical time-series analysis, implied premium calculations from market prices, and country-specific risk scores, making it backt
Stochastic Discount Factor (SDF) models provide a unified framework for asset pricing and risk assessment, yet traditional formulations struggle to incorporate unstructured textual information. We introduce NewsNet-SDF, a novel deep learning framework that seamlessly integrates pretrained language m
This paper analyses the investment returns of three stock sectors, Manuf, Hitec, and Other, in the U.S. stock market, based on the Fama-French three-factor model, the Carhart four-factor model, and the Fama-French five-factor model, in order to test the validity of the Fama-French three-factor model
Inspired by recent advances in Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks (KANs), we introduce a novel approach to latent factor conditional asset pricing models. While previous machine learning applications in asset pricing have predominantly used Multilayer Perceptrons with ReLU activation functions to model late
In this article we introduce a portfolio optimisation framework, in which the use of rough path signatures (Lyons, 1998) provides a novel method of incorporating path-dependencies in the joint signal-asset dynamics, naturally extending traditional factor models, while keeping the resulting formulas
Network momentum provides a novel type of risk premium, which exploits the interconnections among assets in a financial network to predict future returns. However, the current process of constructing financial networks relies heavily on expensive databases and financial expertise, limiting accessibi
Skew-t copula models are attractive for the modeling of financial data because they allow for asymmetric and extreme tail dependence. We show that the copula implicit in the skew-t distribution of Azzalini and Capitanio (2003) allows for a higher level of pairwise asymmetric dependence than two popu
Due to major shifts in European energy supply, a structural change can be observed in Austrian electricity spot price data starting from the second quarter of the year 2021 onward. In this work we study the performance of two different factor models for the electricity spot price in three different
Modern mainstream financial theory is underpinned by the efficient market hypothesis, which posits the rapid incorporation of relevant information into asset pricing. Limited prior studies in the operational research literature have investigated tests designed for random number generators to check f
This study examines market behavior in critical mineral investments using a novel analytical framework that combines change-point detection (PELT algorithm) with cross-sectional analysis. This research analyzes ESG-ranked critical mineral ETFs from March 31, 2014, to April 19, 2024, using the S&P 50
We document regime-dependent predictive structure between equity factors using 35 years of Fama-French data (1990-2024). We find that Value (HML) Granger-causes Size (SMB) during crisis regimes (p < 1e-4, 9-day lag) but not during normal conditions, validating across 5 of 6 historical stress events
We address the problem of asset pricing in a market where there is no risky asset. Previous work developed a theoretical model for a shadow riskless rate (SRR) for such a market in terms of the drift component of the state-price deflator for that asset universe. Assuming asset prices are modeled by
