Fixed income is where quantitative finance’s modeling tradition runs deepest and data runs thinnest. This hub covers term-structure models (affine, HJM-lineage, and their ML successors), yield-curve forecasting, bond risk premia, and credit — spread dynamics, default modeling, and corporate bond market structure.
Two things distinguish strong papers here. First, honest treatment of the small-sample problem: there are only a handful of independent interest-rate cycles in any dataset, so out-of-sample claims rest on far less evidence than equity research enjoys, and papers that acknowledge regime dependence (pre/post-2008 zero-rate era, the 2022 repricing) age better. Second, attention to market plumbing — corporate bond research that ignores dealer intermediation costs and stale quotes produces backtests no desk can trade. The intersection with machine learning is growing fast, but the base rates favor parsimonious models in this asset class more than anywhere else.

The profit and loss (p&l) attrition for each business year into different risk or risk factors (e.g., interest rates, credit spreads, foreign exchange rate etc.) is a regulatory requirement, e.g., under Solvency 2. Three different decomposition principles are prevalent: one-at-a-time (OAT), sequenti
This paper describes a fast and stable algorithm for evaluating Bermudan swaption under the two factor Hull-White model. We discretize the calculation of the expected value in the evaluation of Bermudan swaption by numerical integration, and Gaussian kernel sums appears in it. The fast Gauss transfo
A conditional normalizing flow can produce extreme scenarios even when its point forecasts appear reasonable. We compare two fitted models for daily Treasury yield changes at eleven maturities reconstructed from Federal Reserve curve parameters. Both use an LSTM, an auxiliary location head, and an a
Bank treasury portfolios must balance yield, liquidity, and interest-rate risk across bonds of different maturities. Static allocation rules are ill-suited to this task: portfolios concentrated in long-duration securities with no dynamic adjust- ment mechanism can accumulate large mark-to-market los
In recent years, China’s bond market has seen a surge in defaults amid regulatory reforms and macroeconomic volatility. Traditional machine learning models struggle to capture financial data’s irregularity and temporal dependencies, while most deep learning models lack interpretability-critical for
This paper extends an option-theoretic approach to estimate liquidity spreads for corporate bonds. Inspired by Longstaff’s equity market framework and subsequent work by Koziol and Sauerbier on risk-free zero-coupon bonds, the model views liquidity as a look-back option. The model accounts for the i
This work proposes a unified framework for portfolio allocation, covering both asset selection and optimization, based on a multiple-hypothesis predict-then-optimize approach. The portfolio is modeled as a structured ensemble, where each predictor corresponds to a specific asset or hypothesis. Struc
We use granular regulatory data on euro interest rate swap trades between January 2021 and June 2023 to assess whether derivative positions of Italian banks can offset losses on their debt securities holdings should interest rates rise unexpectedly. At the aggregate level of the banking system, we f
Classic stochastic volatility models assume volatility is unobservable. We use the Volatility Index: S&P 500 VIX to observe it, to easier fit the model. We apply it to corporate bonds. We fit autoregression for corporate rates and for risk spreads between these rates and Treasury rates. Next, we div
Due to the dynamic nature of financial markets, maintaining models that produce precise predictions over time is difficult. Often the goal isn’t just point prediction but determining uncertainty. Quantifying uncertainty, especially the aleatoric uncertainty due to the unpredictable nature of market
A growing number of contributions in the literature have identified a puzzle in the European carbon allowance (EUA) market. Specifically, a persistent cost-of-carry spread (C-spread) over the risk-free rate has been observed. We are the first to explain the anomalous C-spread with the credit spread
How should financial institutions hedge their balance sheets against interest rate risk when managing long-term assets and liabilities? We address this question by proposing a bond portfolio solution based on ambiguity-averse preferences, which generalizes classical immunization and accommodates arb
Credit risk in the China’s bond market has become increasingly evident, creating a progressively escalating risk of default for credit bond investors. Given the current incomplete and inaccurate bond information disclosure, timely tracking and forecasting the individual credit bond default risks hav
This paper investigates the impact of Trade Policy Uncertainty (TPU) on stock-bond correlation dynamics in the United States. Using daily data on major U.S. stock indices and the 10-year Treasury bond from 2015 to 2025, we estimate correlation within a two-step GARCH-based framework, relying on mult
Research has shown banks match interest income and expense betas, and thereby obtain net interest income margins which are insensitive to changes in short-term interest rates. The present analysis extends this research in a number of ways. First, we use state-space methods to estimate time-varying b
The hypothesis that there do not exist free lunches with vanishing risk (FLVRs) in the real market underpins the popular risk-neutral pricing and hedging methodology in quantitative finance. The paper documents the fact that this hypothesis can be safely rejected. It performs extremely accurately th
The digitalization of financial markets has shifted trading from voice to electronic channels, with Multi-Dealer-to-Client (MD2C) platforms now enabling clients to request quotes (RfQs) for financial instruments like bonds from multiple dealers simultaneously. In this competitive landscape, dealers
This study is motivated by empirical observations of periodic fluctuations in interest rates, notably long-term economic cycles spanning decades, which the conventional Hull-White short-rate model fails to adequately capture. To address this limitation, we propose an extension that incorporates a si
This paper presents an in-depth analysis of stylized facts in the context of futures on German bonds. The study examines four futures contracts on German bonds: Schatz, Bobl, Bund and Buxl, using tick-by-tick limit order book datasets. It uncovers a range of stylized facts and empirical observations
The robust option pricing problem is to find upper and lower bounds on fair prices of financial claims using only the most minimal assumptions. It contrasts with the classical, model-based approach and gained prominence in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, and can be used to understand the exte
