Fixed income is where quantitative finance’s modeling tradition runs deepest and data runs thinnest. This hub covers term-structure models (affine, HJM-lineage, and their ML successors), yield-curve forecasting, bond risk premia, and credit — spread dynamics, default modeling, and corporate bond market structure.
Two things distinguish strong papers here. First, honest treatment of the small-sample problem: there are only a handful of independent interest-rate cycles in any dataset, so out-of-sample claims rest on far less evidence than equity research enjoys, and papers that acknowledge regime dependence (pre/post-2008 zero-rate era, the 2022 repricing) age better. Second, attention to market plumbing — corporate bond research that ignores dealer intermediation costs and stale quotes produces backtests no desk can trade. The intersection with machine learning is growing fast, but the base rates favor parsimonious models in this asset class more than anywhere else.

In this paper, we examine the yield premium of green bonds. We use a matching method, followed by a two-step regression procedure, to estimate the yield differe
The dissertation consists of three essays on responsible and sustainable finance. I show that local communities should be seen as stakeholders to decisions made by corporations. In the first essay, I examine whether the imposition of fiduciary duty on municipal advisors affects bond yields and advis
A novel procedure is presented for finding the true but latent endpoints within the repayment histories of individual loans. The monthly observations beyond these true endpoints are false, largely due to operational failures that delay account closure, thereby corrupting some loans. Detecting these
The role of collateral in derivative pricing has evolved beyond credit risk mitigation, particularly following the global financial crisis, when funding costs and basis spreads became central to valuation practices. This development coincided with the transition from the London Interbank Offered Rat
In this paper, we propose an alternative valuation approach for CAT bonds where a pricing formula is learned by deep neural networks. Once trained, these networks can be used to price CAT bonds as a function of inputs that reflect both the current market conditions and the specific features of the c
In traditional financial markets, yield curves are widely available for countries (and, by extension, currencies), financial institutions, and large corporates. These curves are used to calibrate stochastic interest rate models, discount future cash flows, and price financial products. Yield curves,
Climate-related phenomena are increasingly affecting regions worldwide, manifesting as floods, water scarcity, and heat waves, significantly impairing companies’ assets and productivity. It is essential for asset managers to quantify the exposure of their portfolios to such risk. To this aim, we dev
Graph Neural Networks have significantly advanced research in recommender systems over the past few years. These methods typically capture global interests using aggregated past interactions and rely on static embeddings of users and items over extended periods of time. While effective in some domai
The article proposes a method of designing a statistically distinguishable rating scale that is not excessive in relation to the existing observation statistics. This allows for more stable validation with a fixed maximum number of violations of the Wald criterion compared to an excess scale, which
We study the drivers of the Gilchrist and Zakrajšek (2012) excess bond premium (EBP) through the lens of the news. The monthly attention the news pays to 180 topics (Bybee et al., 2024) captures up to 80% of the variation in the EBP, and this component of variation forecasts macroeconomic movements.
This paper presents comparison results and establishes risk bounds for credit portfolios within classes of Bernoulli mixture models, assuming conditionally independent defaults that are stochastically increasing with a common risk factor. We provide simple and interpretable conditions for conditiona
The fragility of financial systems was starkly demonstrated in early 2023 through a cascade of major bank failures in the United States, including the second, third, and fourth largest collapses in the US history. The highly interdependent financial networks and the associated high systemic risk hav
This article presents a generic hybrid numerical method to price a wide range of options on one or several assets, as well as assets with stochastic drift or volatility. In particular for equity and interest rate hybrid with local volatility.
This study presents an unsupervised machine learning approach for optimizing Profit and Loss (PnL) in quantitative finance. Our algorithm, akin to an unsupervised variant of linear regression, maximizes the Sharpe Ratio of PnL generated from signals constructed linearly from exogenous variables. The
This paper examines how trade policy uncertainty influences the correlation between U.S. stock indices and short-term government bonds. The objective is to assess whether policy-related shocks, especially those linked to trade tensions, alter the traditional stock-T bill relationship and its implica
Machine learning models used for high-stakes predictions in domains like credit risk face critical degradation due to concept drift, requiring robust and transparent adaptation mechanisms. We propose an architecture, where a dedicated correction layer is employed to efficiently capture systematic sh
Robust yield curve estimation is crucial in fixed-income markets for accurate instrument pricing, effective risk management, and informed trading strategies. Traditional approaches, including the bootstrapping method and parametric Nelson-Siegel models, often struggle with overfitting or instability
This paper investigates the convergence properties of sample-average approximations (SAA) for set-valued systemic risk measures. We assume that the systemic risk measure is defined using a general aggregation function with some continuity properties and value-at-risk applied as a monetary risk measu
I examine whether the imposition of fiduciary duty on municipal advisors affects bond yields and advising fees. Using a difference-in-differences analysis, I show that bond yields reduce by $\sim$9% after the imposition of the SEC Municipal Advisor Rule due to lower underwriting spreads. Larger mun
We study the problems of consistency and of the existence of finite-dimensional realizations for multi-curve interest rate models of Heath-Jarrow-Morton type, generalizing the geometric approach developed by T. Björk and co-authors in the classical single-curve setting. We characterize when a multi-
