When history is one path and you need many, you simulate. This hub collects three generations of that idea: agent-based models (zero-intelligence and heterogeneous traders interacting through an order book), generative models (GANs, diffusion models, and other learned simulators of prices or order flow), and the newest wave, LLM-driven trading agents placed in a synthetic market to study behaviour and crowding. Alongside them sit the engineering papers on backtesting engines and market “digital twins”.
A simulator is only as useful as the questions it can answer, so judge each paper by what it validates. Reproducing stylised facts (fat tails, volatility clustering, the volume–volatility relation) is table stakes, not evidence that a strategy tested inside the simulator would survive real fills. Look for calibration to real market data, for out-of-sample tests of the simulator itself, and for honesty about market impact — the thing simulators exist to study and the thing most backtests silently ignore. Our simulation checklist spells this out.

This paper presents an asset pricing model in an incomplete market involving a large number of heterogeneous agents based on the mean field game theory. In the model, we incorporate habit formation in consumption preferences, which has been widely used to explain various phenomena in financial econo
Investors and regulators can greatly benefit from a realistic market simulator that enables them to anticipate the consequences of their decisions in real markets. However, traditional rule-based market simulators often fall short in accurately capturing the dynamic behavior of market participants,
Housing selection is a high-stakes and largely irreversible decision problem. We study housing consultation as a decision-support interface for housing selection. Existing housing platforms and many LLM-based assistants often reduce this process to ranking or recommendation, resulting in opaque reas
The field of artificial intelligence (AI) agents is evolving rapidly, driven by the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) to autonomously perform and refine tasks with human-like efficiency and adaptability. In this context, multi-agent collaboration has emerged as a promising approach, enabl
In recent years, the application of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in financial analysis and investment decision-making has gained significant attention. However, most existing approaches rely on single-agent systems, which fail to fully utilize the collaborative potential of multiple AI
This paper provides a general method to translate a standard economic model with a large number of agents into a field-formalism model. This formalism preserves the system’s interactions and microeconomic features at the individual level but reveals the emergence of collective states. We apply this m
We have shown, in a series of articles, that a classical description of a large number of economic agents can be replaced by a statistical fields formalism. To better understand the accumulation and allocation of capital among different sectors, the present paper applies this statistical fields desc
Financial volatility obeys two fascinating empirical regularities that apply to various assets, on various markets, and on various time scales: it is fat-tailed (more precisely power-law distributed) and it tends to be clustered in time. Many interesting models have been proposed to account for thes
One of the most promising applications in the era of Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) computing is quantum generative adversarial networks (QGANs), which offer significant quantum advantages over classical machine learning in various domains. However, QGANs suffer from mode collapse and lack
This paper explores the bifurcative dynamics of an artificial stock market exchange (ASME) with endogenous, myopic traders interacting through a limit order book (LOB). We showed that agent-based price dynamics possess intrinsic bistability, which is not a result of randomness but an emergent proper
Trading is a highly competitive task that requires a combination of strategy, knowledge, and psychological fortitude. With the recent success of large language models(LLMs), it is appealing to apply the emerging intelligence of LLM agents in this competitive arena and understanding if they can outpe
The launch of $Trump coin ignited a wave in meme coin investment. Copy trading, as a strategy-agnostic approach that eliminates the need for deep trading knowledge, quickly gains widespread popularity in the meme coin market. However, copy trading is not a guarantee of profitability due to the preva
We present an open-source Python framework for modelling cascading physical climate risk in a spatial supply-chain economy. The framework integrates geospatial flood hazards with an agent-based model of firms and households, enabling simulation of both direct asset losses and indirect disruptions pr
This paper explores the interplay between transfer policies, R&D, corruption, and economic development using a general equilibrium model with heterogeneous agents and a government. The government collects taxes, redistributes fiscal revenues, and undertakes public investment (in R&D, infrastructure,
This paper builds on “Collective Arbitrage and the Value of Cooperation” by Biagini et al. (2025, forthcoming in “Finance and Stochastics”), which introduced in discrete time the notions of collective arbitrage and super-replication in a multi-agent market framework, where agents may operate in seve
Although market participants generally have access to a common information set, they make decisions based on forecasts formed over heterogeneous horizons. Because market impact depends on aggregate positions rather than trader identities, these decisions feed back into prices through their collectiv
The Santa Fe model is an established econophysics model for describing stochastic dynamics of the limit order book from the viewpoint of the zero-intelligence approach. While its foundation was studied by combining a dimensional analysis and a mean-field theory by E. Smith et al. in Quantitative Fin
Understanding how market participants react to shocks like scheduled macroeconomic news is crucial for both traders and policymakers. We develop a calibrated data generation process DGP that embeds four stylized trader archetypes retail, pension, institutional, and hedge funds into an extended CAPM
This paper presents a theoretical extension of the DeTEcT framework proposed by Sadykhov et al., DeTEcT, where a formal analysis framework was introduced for modelling wealth distribution in token economies. DeTEcT is a framework for analysing economic activity, simulating macroeconomic scenarios, a
Models for spin systems known from statistical physics are used in econometrics in the form of agent-based models. Econophysics research in econometrics is increasingly developing general market models that describe exchange phenomena and use the chemical potential $μ$ known from physics in the cont
