Text became a mainstream data source for quant research in three waves: dictionary-based sentiment scoring of news and filings, supervised NLP on earnings calls and social media, and — since 2023 — large language models used for everything from extracting signals to simulating analysts. This hub tracks all three, with the LLM wave now dominating new submissions.
The evaluation bar shifts with each wave, and it’s worth knowing where it currently stands: for LLM-based trading papers, the critical flaw to check is temporal leakage — a model whose training data includes the test period’s news has seen the future, and many published backtests fail exactly this test. The papers ranked highest below either use point-in-time text data with pre-cutoff models or study tasks (extraction, classification, summarization quality) where leakage doesn’t invalidate the result. Sentiment-signal decay is the other recurring theme: documented text signals fade fast once published.

Traditional banks face increasing competition from FinTechs in the rapidly evolving financial ecosystem. Raising operational efficiency is vital to address this challenge. Our study aims to improve the efficiency of document-intensive business processes in banking. To that end, we first review the l
This paper presents a novel study on harnessing Large Language Models’ (LLMs) outstanding knowledge and reasoning abilities for explainable financial time series forecasting. The application of machine learning models to financial time series comes with several challenges, including the difficulty i
The irrational behavior of investors selling profitable assets too early while holding onto losing assets for too long is known as the disposition effect. Due to the development of the Internet, the information environment for individual investors has been greatly improved. As an important source of
The problem of time-series forecasting in non-stationary and complex environments is a challenging task in machine learning, especially with heterogeneous numerical and textual data present. Traditional statistical models like AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) are based on the assumpt
This paper studies whether a lightweight supervised aggregator can combine diverse zero-shot large language model outputs into a stronger downstream signal for corporate disclosure classification. Zero-shot LLMs can read disclosures without task-specific fine-tuning, but their predictions often vary
Predicting stock prices presents challenges in financial forecasting. While traditional approaches such as ARIMA and RNNs are prevalent, recent developments in Large Language Models (LLMs) offer alternative methodologies. This paper introduces an approach that integrates LLMs with daily financial ne
Particularly, financial named-entity recognition (NER) is one of the many important approaches to translate unformatted reports and news into structured knowledge graphs. However, free, easy-to-use large language models (LLMs) often fail to differentiate organisations as people, or disregard an actu
Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly being used to extract structured knowledge from unstructured financial text. Large language models (LLMs) cannot be trusted for economic forecasts during periods covered by their training data. Counterfactual forecasting ability is non-identified when the model has seen the realized values: any observed output is consistent with both genuine skill and memorization. Any evide
Reinforcement learning (RL) has emerged as a transformative approach for financial trading, enabling dynamic strategy optimization in complex markets. This study explores the integration of sentiment analysis, derived from large language models (LLMs), into RL frameworks to enhance trading performan
As financial markets grow increasingly complex, there is a rising need for automated tools that can effectively assist human analysts in equity research, particularly within sell-side research. Corporate Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission targets are important metrics in sustainable investing [“12, 16”]. To provide a comprehensive view of company emission objectives, we propose an approach to source these metrics from company public disclosures. Without automation, curating these metrics manual
Large language models (LLMs) are now widely used in various fields, including finance. However, Japanese financial-specific LLMs have not been proposed yet. Hence, this study aims to construct a Japanese financial-specific LLM through continual pre-training. Before tuning, we constructed Japanese fi

Furthermore, we develop and critically evaluate several classical and neural bankruptcy prediction models using this dataset. Our f
This paper presents a multi-label topic model for financial texts like ad-hoc announcements, 8-K filings, finance related news or annual reports.
