Statistical arbitrage covers strategies that trade temporary mispricings between related instruments: classic pairs trading, cointegration-based baskets, and mean-reversion signals across equities, futures, and crypto. It is one of the few strategy families where academic papers regularly include real backtests, which makes the rigor score especially useful here.
When reading this literature, three questions separate implementable work from curve-fitting: Does the paper account for transaction costs and shorting constraints? Is the pair-selection rule defined before the backtest window? And does performance survive the post-2010 period, when the classic distance method famously decayed? Papers ranked highly below tend to answer at least two of these.

\begin{“abstract”} In this paper, we integrated the statistical arbitrage strategy, pairs trading, into the Black-Litterman model and constructed efficient mean-variance portfolios. Typically, pairs trading underperforms under volatile or distressed market condition because the selected asset pairs
In Statistical Arbitrage (StatArb), classical mean reversion trading strategies typically hinge on asset-pricing or PCA based models to identify the mean of a synthetic asset. Once such a (linear) model is identified, a separate mean reversion strategy is then devised to generate a trading signal. W
A growing number of contributions in the literature have identified a puzzle in the European carbon allowance (EUA) market. Specifically, a persistent cost-of-carry spread (C-spread) over the risk-free rate has been observed. We are the first to explain the anomalous C-spread with the credit spread
Deep Reinforcement Learning (Deep RL) has been explored for a number of applications in finance and stock trading. In this paper, we present a practical implementation of Deep RL for trading natural gas futures contracts. The Sharpe Ratio obtained exceeds benchmarks given by trend following and mean
In this project, we propose to explore the Kalman filter’s performance for estimating asset prices. We begin by introducing a stochastic mean-reverting processes, the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (OU) model. After this we discuss the Kalman filter in detail, and its application with this model. After a demons
We propose a new method for finding statistical arbitrages that can contain more assets than just the traditional pair. We formulate the problem as seeking a portfolio with the highest volatility, subject to its price remaining in a band and a leverage limit. This optimization problem is not convex,
This paper presents a quantitative investment strategy that is capable of producing strong risk-adjusted returns in both up and down markets. The strategy combi
In this paper, we investigate a portfolio selection problem with transaction costs under a two-factor stochastic volatility structure, where volatility follows a mean-reverting process with a stochastic mean-reversion level. The model incorporates both proportional exogenous transaction costs and en
We propose a reinforcement learning (RL) framework under a broad class of risk objectives, characterized by convex scoring functions. This class covers many common risk measures, such as variance, Expected Shortfall, entropic Value-at-Risk, and mean-risk utility. To resolve the time-inconsistency is
Our empirical results show an impressive fit with the pretty complex theoretical Sharpe formula of a trend-following strategy depending on the parameter of the signal, which was derived by by Grebenkov and Serror (2014). That empirical fit convinces us that a mean-reversion process with only one tim
We reconcile rough volatility models and jump models using a class of reversionary Heston models with fast mean reversions and large vol-of-vols. Starting from hyper-rough Heston models with a Hurst index $H \in (-1/2,1/2)$, we derive a Markovian approximating class of one dimensional reversionary H
This paper proposes an algorithmic trading framework integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) ratings with a pairs trading strategy. It addresses the demand for socially responsible investment solutions by developing a unique algorithm blending ESG data with methods for identifying co
We consider the pricing of derivatives written on accumulated marks, such as weather derivatives or aggregate loss claims, using a self-exciting marked point process. The jump intensity mean-reverts between events and increases at jump times by an amount proportional to the mark. The resulting state
Empirical studies with publicly available life tables identify long-range dependence (LRD) in national mortality data. Although the longevity market is supposed to benchmark against the national force of mortality, insurers are more concerned about the forces of mortality associated with their own p
The study of order volumes in financial markets has shown that these display several non-trivial statistical properties. Most studies have been focused on the bulk properties of volume of incoming orders or of realized transactions rather than the dynamical aspects. The present work is a study of th
This paper examines factors that influence prices of most common five cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, Litecoin, and Monero over 2010-2018 using weekly data. The study employs ARDL technique and documents several findings. First, cryptomarket-related factors such as market beta, tra
The residuals in factor models prevalent in asset pricing presents opportunities to exploit the mis-pricing from unexplained cross-sectional variation for arbitrage. We performed a replication of the methodology of Guijarro-Ordonez et al. (2019) (G-P-Z) on Deep Learning Statistical Arbitrage (DLSA),
Statistical arbitrage is a prevalent trading strategy which takes advantage of mean reverse property of spread of paired stocks. Studies on this strategy often rely heavily on model assumption. In this study, we introduce an innovative model-free and reinforcement learning based framework for statis

Drifts of asset returns are notoriously difficult to model accurately and, yet, trading strategies obtained from portfolio optimization are very sensitive to them. To mitigate this well-known phenomenon we study robust growth-optimization in a high-dimensional incomplete market under drift uncertain
