Statistical arbitrage covers strategies that trade temporary mispricings between related instruments: classic pairs trading, cointegration-based baskets, and mean-reversion signals across equities, futures, and crypto. It is one of the few strategy families where academic papers regularly include real backtests, which makes the rigor score especially useful here.
When reading this literature, three questions separate implementable work from curve-fitting: Does the paper account for transaction costs and shorting constraints? Is the pair-selection rule defined before the backtest window? And does performance survive the post-2010 period, when the classic distance method famously decayed? Papers ranked highly below tend to answer at least two of these.

This paper provides insight into the estimation and asymptotic behavior of parameters in interest rate models, focusing primarily on the Cox-Ingersoll-Ross (CIR) process and its extension – the more general Chan-Karolyi-Longstaff-Sanders (CKLS) framework ($α\in[“0.5,1”]$). The CIR process is widely
We study long-term investment in an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck diffusion model with exponential utility. We solve the finite-horizon problem explicitly and show that information delay qualitatively alters long-horizon behavior. Under full information, the certainty equivalent generated by mean reversion gro
Synthetic time series are essential tools for data augmentation, stress testing, and algorithmic prototyping in quantitative finance. However, in cryptocurrency markets, characterized by 24/7 trading, extreme volatility, and rapid regime shifts, existing Time Series Generation (TSG) methods and benc
This study analyzes historical data from five agricultural commodities in the Chinese futures market to explore the correlation, cointegration, and Granger causality between Peanut futures and related futures. Multivariate linear regression models are constructed for prices and logarithmic returns,
The Fractional Stochastic Regularity Model (FSRM) is an extension of Black-Scholes model describing the multifractal nature of prices. It is based on a multifractional process with a random Hurst exponent $H_t$, driven by a fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (fOU) process. When the regularity parameter $
This paper presents an agent based model of an electronic market with two types of trading agents. One type follows a mean reverting strategy and the other, the speculative trader, tracks the maximum realised return over recent trades. The speculators have a distribution of returns concentrated on n
This work aims to bridge the existing knowledge gap in the optimisation of latency-critical code, specifically focusing on high-frequency trading (HFT) systems. The research culminates in three main contributions: the creation of a Low-Latency Programming Repository, the optimisation of a market-neu
This paper investigates the optimal selection of portfolios for power utility maximizing investors in a financial market where stock returns depend on a hidden Gaussian mean reverting drift process. Information on the drift is obtained from returns and expert opinions in the form of noisy signals ab
We derive the stationary distribution in various regimes of the extended Chiarella model of financial markets. This model is a stochastic nonlinear dynamical system that encompasses dynamical competition between a (saturating) trending and a mean-reverting component. We find the so-called mispricing
This paper establishes that conditioning the probability of execution of new orders on the self-generated historical trading information (HTI) of a trading strategy is a necessary condition for a statistical trading edge. It is shown, in particular, that, given any trading strategy S that does not u
In this paper we study optimal trading strategies in a financial market in which stock returns depend on a hidden Gaussian mean reverting drift process. Investors obtain information on that drift by observing stock returns. Moreover, expert opinions in the form of signals about the current state of
We conduct a preliminary analysis of a pairs trading strategy using the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (OU) process to model stock price spreads. We compare this approach to a naive pairs trading strategy that uses a rolling window to calculate mean and standard deviation parameters. Our findings suggest that t
We use random walks to simulate the fluid limit of two coupled diffusive limit order books to model correlation emergence. The model implements the arrival, cancellation and diffusion of orders coupled by a pairs trader profiting from the mean-reversion between the two order books in the fluid limit
This study outlines a comprehensive methodology utilizing copulas to discern inconsistencies in the behavior exhibited by pairs of financial assets. It introduces a robust approach to establishing the interrelationship between the returns of these assets, exploring potential measures of dependence a
The focus of this paper is on identifying the most effective selling strategy for pairs trading of stocks. In pairs trading, a long position is held in one stock while a short position is held in another. The goal is to determine the optimal time to sell the long position and repurchase the short po
This paper studies the mean-variance optimal portfolio choice of an investor pre-committed to a deterministic investment policy in continuous time in a market with mean-reversion in the risk-free rate and the equity risk-premium. In the tradition of Markowitz, optimal policies are restricted to a su
We introduce a mean-reverting stochastic differential equation with a three-component stochastic term and show that it generates a hierarchy of steady-state (stationary) distributions. At the top level, the hierarchy is described by a modified-Beta distribution, while one- and two-parameter reductio
We investigate a continuous-time financial market where the asset price exhibits weak (sublinear) mean reversion and has a nonzero drift. Complementing earlier work on strong (superlinear) mean reversion, we show that, for an investor maximizing expected exponential utility, the certainty equivalent
We investigate the optimal execution of contracts that are used in merger&acquisition deals. We consider cash-settled and physically delivered contracts between a broker and a counterpart. Contracts are linear (total returns swaps), nonlinear (collar contracts) or Asian type (TWAP based contracts).
In this paper, we extend the market price of risk for delivery periods (MPDP) of electricity swap contracts by introducing a dimension for jump risk. As introduced by Kemper et al. (2022), the MPDP arises through the use of geometric averaging while pricing electricity swaps in a geometric framework
