This hub holds the mathematical engine room of quantitative finance: stochastic control (choose a policy that steers a diffusion), optimal stopping (choose a time to act), and the machinery that solves them — Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman equations, viscosity solutions, backward stochastic differential equations, and mean-field games for the many-player limit. The classic applications are Merton-style consumption and investment, optimal liquidation, dividend and reinsurance control, and American-option exercise.
Most papers here are Lab Rats by our scoring: deep theory, little or no data. That is not a criticism of the work, but it changes how you read it. The questions that matter are whether the model’s state variables are observable in practice, whether the closed-form or numerical solution degrades gracefully when parameters are estimated rather than known, and whether a paper that claims a strategy ever confronts it with transaction costs or discrete rebalancing. The handful of papers that pair a control result with a calibrated numerical study rank highest below.

We develop a mixed control framework that combines absolutely continuous controls with impulse interventions subject to stochastic execution delays. The model extends current impulse control formulations by allowing (i) the controller to choose the mean of the stochastic delay of their impulses, and
We study the optimal liquidation problem in both lit and dark pools for investors facing execution uncertainty in a continuous-time setting with market impact. First, we design an optimal make–take fee policy for a large investor liquidating her position across both pools, interacting with small in
We study expected utility maximization problem with constant relative risk aversion utility function in a complete market under the reinforcement learning framework. To induce exploration, we introduce the Tsallis entropy regularizer, which generalizes the commonly used Shannon entropy. Unlike the c
Aiming to analyze the impact of environmental transition on the value of assets and on asset stranding, we study optimal stopping and divestment timing decisions for an economic agent whose future revenues depend on the realization of a scenario from a given set of possible futures. Since the future
This paper presents a dynamic game framework to analyze the role of large banks in interbank markets. By extending existing models, we incorporate a large bank as a dynamic decision-maker interacting with multiple small banks. Using the mean-field game methodology and convex analysis, best-response
This thesis develops equilibrium asset pricing models in incomplete markets with a large number of heterogeneous agents using mean field game theory. The market equilibrium is characterized by a novel form of mean field backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs). First, we propose a theoreti
This paper studies the continuous-time q-learning in mean-field jump-diffusion models when the population distribution is not directly observable. We propose the integrated q-function in decoupled form (decoupled Iq-function) from the representative agent’s perspective and establish its martingale c
We consider a class of learning problems in which an agent liquidates a risky asset while creating both transient price impact driven by an unknown convolution propagator and linear temporary price impact with an unknown parameter. We characterize the trader’s performance as maximization of a revenu
We develop a framework for an investor who trades until she either reaches a financial goal or an exogenous deadline arrives. Analogous to utility functions over wealth, we measure satisfaction with the timing of reaching a goal by a discount function. For a continuous-time market where a stochastic
This paper is concerned with Merton’s portfolio optimization problem in a Volterra stochastic environment described by a multivariate fake stationary Volterra–Heston model. Due to the non-Markovianity and non-semimartingality of the underlying processes, the classical stochastic control approach ca
We consider the problem of optimal annuitization with labour income, where an agent aims to maximize utility from consumption and labour income under age-dependent force of mortality. Using a dynamic programming approach, we derive closed-form solutions for the value function and the optimal consump
We consider a dynamic portfolio optimization problem that incorporates predictable returns, instantaneous transaction costs, price impact, and stochastic volatility, extending the classical results of Garleanu and Pedersen (2013), which assume constant volatility. Constructing the optimal portfolio
We propose a quantum machine learning framework for approximating solutions to high-dimensional parabolic partial differential equations (PDEs) that can be reformulated as backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs). In contrast to popular quantum-classical network hybrid approaches, this stu
We consider singular control in inventory management under Knightian uncertainty, where decision makers have a smooth ambiguity preference over Gaussian-generated priors. We demonstrate that continuous-time smooth ambiguity is the infinitesimal limit of Kalman-Bucy filtering with recursive robust ut
This paper studies the competition among multiple fund managers with relative performance over the excess logarithmic return. Fund managers compete with each other and have expected utility or mean-variance criteria for excess logarithmic return. Each fund manager possesses a unique risky asset, and
We consider an optimal investment-consumption problem for a utility-maximizing investor who has access to assets with different liquidity and whose consumption rate as well as terminal wealth are subject to lower-bound constraints. Assuming utility functions that satisfy standard conditions, we deve
We investigate exploratory randomization for an extended linear-exponential-quadratic-Gaussian (LEQG) control problem in discrete time. This extended control problem is related to the structure of risk-sensitive investment management applications. We introduce exploration through a randomization of
This paper studies dynamic mean-variance (MV) asset allocation problems in general incomplete markets. Besides of the conventional MV objective on portfolio’s terminal wealth, our framework can accommodate running MV objectives with general (non-exponential) discounting factors while in general, any
In this paper, we introduce a novel pricing model for Uniswap V3, built upon stochastic processes and the Martingale Stopping Theorem. This model innovatively frames the valuation of positions within Uniswap V3. We further conduct a numerical analysis and examine the sensitivities through Greek risk
In this paper, we investigate an optimal investment problem associated with proportional portfolio insurance (PPI) strategies in the presence of jumps in the underlying dynamics. PPI strategies enable investors to mitigate downside risk while still retaining the potential for upside gains. This is a
